We survey recent work on the specification of an access control mechanism in a collaborative environment. The work is presented in the context of the \wdl language, an extension of datalog to a distributed context. We discuss a fine-grained access control mechanism for intentional data based on provenance as well as a control mechanism for delegation, i.e., for deploying rules at remote peers.

Graph Search and the Unicorn Engine. Soren Lassen, Facebook.

Abstract: The social graph on Facebook is an immense map of people, places, and things, and the connections between them. Graph Search is a new type of search that enables end users to ask expressive, natural language queries about the social graph that people have shared with them on Facebook. Unicorn is the underlying graph traversal engine. Unicorn operates on an inverted index of trillions of nodes and edges in the social graph. In this talk I will cover how the natural language interface of Graph Search maps to the key capabilities of the Unicorn engine: the query language, the inverted index, and the features for promoting socially relevant results.
